INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis metro police are investigating after a man was shot and critically wounded on the city’s near east side Tuesday night.
Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department found an individual suffering from gunshot wounds near the 300 block of North Sherman Drive around 9:04 p.m. while patrolling in the area.
IMPD said the officers reportedly heard gunfire before locating the injured individual. The victim was transported to Methodist Hospital where he was last reported to be in critical condition, according to IMPD.
IMPD confirmed that multiple shell casings were also recovered from an alley east of where the man was found.
A short time later, IMPD officers were dispatched around 9:37 p.m. to Community East Hospital in response to a walk-in person shot. The victim is in stable condition. IMPD could not confirm the age or gender of the walk-in shooting victim.
IMPD said it believes this shooting is possibly related to the North Sherman Drive incident and police are continuing to investigate any potential connections.
