ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Hundreds gathered at the Capital Center in downtown Albany on Friday night for the major fundraiser for the local Red Cross chapter.
The Fire and Ice Gala supports the many lifesaving missions of the American Red Cross of Eastern New York. From helping families who lost their home in a fire to responding to natural disasters and hosting blood drives.
This year, the team from Albany Medical Center was honored for winning the Capital Blood Challenge for collecting enough to save 192 lives. And President Havidan Rodriguez, of the University at Albany, was presented with the Humanitarian Spirit Award.
NEWS10’s Lydia Kulbida emceed the gala.
