Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson took a swipe at Republican Congressman Dan Crenshaw and the Texas lawmaker was having none of it.
Carlson was discussing crossing at the southern border and had Jesse Kelly on his new show, who argued Democratic and GOP lawmakers who represent states that share a border with Mexico are actually encouraging people to cross into the United States.
“Why do the reddest states produce the dumbest, most liberal Republicans? Why aren’t John Cornyn and Dan Crenshaw bagging groceries at Walmart? Jesse Kelly has thought about this,” Carlson posted to X, formerly Twitter.
Crenshaw back to Carlson: “Why aren’t you bagging groceries in Moscow?”
Carlson recently went to Russia for a special for his show. It included a sit-down interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin, who used it to push his narrative on the war in Ukraine and urged Washington to recognize Moscow’s interests and press Kyiv to sit down for talks.
For more than two hours, a largely unchallenged Putin showered Carlson with Russian history and Kremlin talking points.
Putin repeated his claim the full-scale invasion in February 2022 — which Kyiv and its allies describe as an unprovoked act of aggression — was to protect Russian interests and prevent Ukraine from posing a threat to Russia by joining NATO.
It was Putin’s first interview with a Western media figure since the invasion.
Before leaving Fox, Carlson repeatedly questioned the validity of U.S. support for Ukraine following Russia’s invasion, asking why Americans are told to hate Putin so much. His commentaries were frequently circulated on Russian state-run media.
