INDIANAPOLIS – A man died in a single-vehicle crash on the northeast side of Indianapolis.
According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, the crash was reported at 12:11 a.m. Tuesday in the 9300 block of Fall Creek Road.
Police said a white Pontiac first veered to the right off the road; the driver then overcorrected, went left of center and crashed.
“From what we’ve been able to tell so far, [the car] was southbound on Fall Creek Road, went left of center and went off the roadway to the left, down by the creek side and hit some trees,” said Capt. Don Weilhammer with IMPD. “The vehicle was on its side and partially wrapped around some trees at that location.”
The driver, an adult male, was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The actual cause of the crash is unknown at this time,” Weilhammer said. “We will not know that until after the coroner’s had the chance to do an autopsy.”
The incident closed the road for several hours for the investigation and crash reconstruction.
