Ox-Bow School Of Art Sets Grant For Artists Of Color
Ox-Bow School of Art & Artists’ Residency has launched an opportunity for BIPOC artists and creatives to use Ox-Bow’s campus and facilities via the Hold Space Grant for Artists of Color. Artists of any discipline, writers, curators, teachers, arts administrators, and Ox-Bow alumni are encouraged to apply. The grant supports individuals or groups of up to twenty for any length of time from one to seven nights. The dates available for the Hold Space Grant are September 4–11. The grant provides participants with a communal living experience on Ox-Bow’s 115-acre campus, including meeting space, outdoor activities and studio access in Saugatuck, Michigan. Expo Chicago has detailed sponsors for its eleventh edition, April 11–14 at Navy Pier. Northern Trust returns for the tenth consecutive edition as presenting sponsor. Premier sponsors for this year’s edition include Audi and Tokio Marine Highland. Bloomberg Connects, Freeman’s | Hindman and Heritage Auctions serve as lead sponsors. Additional official sponsors include Bonhams, Chartwell Insurance Services, The Conservation Center, Fashion Outlets of Chicago, Financial Times, Lalique, Masterworks, Risk Strategies, TPC Art Finance and Yvel. Obama Center Nears Full Height
“Construction is nearing full height for the Obama Presidential Center at 6000 South Stony Island in Jackson Park,” reports Chicago YIMBY. “The center, spearheaded by the Obama Foundation, will replace a portion of the park that formerly housed a football field, southwest of the Museum of Science and Industry. The architectural design is a collaborative effort between Interactive Design Architects and Tod Williams Billie Tsien Architects, while the landscape architecture is being handled by a team consisting of Living Habitats, Site Design Group, and Michael van Valkenburg Associates.” (Images at the link.)
Chicago Water Taxi Resumes Seven-Day Service
Beginning Saturday, the Chicago Water Taxi will provide seven-day service for the first time since 2019, relays CBS News. In September, “the Water Taxi returned to the Chicago River for limited service after… shutting down at the beginning of the pandemic.” Service includes arrivals and departures at the Ogilvie and Union stations, Michigan Avenue and Chinatown.
