SAGINAW, Mich. (WJRT) – WIth the PACT Act expansion in March, all veterans who were exposed to toxins and other hazards while serving the military at home or abroad are now eligible to enroll directly in VA health care.
To help get veterans informed about the expansion, the Lutz VA Medical Center in Saginaw held a town hall on Monday.
The expansion means that millions of veterans are becoming eligible for VA health care years earlier than written into law.
The center also provided a toxic exposure screening to enrolled veterans.
“It gives me the ability to look into the issues that I have had to see if there is something health-related,” says Airforce veteran Tiffany Erskine.
The PACT Act also expands benefits to family members or dependents of veterans who died of related causes.
