MARION, Ind. — A Marion man was recently arrested after police responded to a shots fired incident at an apartment complex.
According to a news release from the Marion Police Department, Joshua Davis, a resident also known as Joshua Moore, was arrested late Tuesday evening on the following preliminary charges:
- One count of serious violent felon in possession of a firearm, a Level 4 felony
- One count of criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, a Level 5 felony
- One count of intimidation with a deadly weapon, a Level 6 felony
- One count of possession of narcotics with intent to distribute, a Level 4 felony
- One count of possession of a controlled substance, a Level 6 felony
- One count of neglect of a dependent, a Level 6 felony
- A misdemeanor charge of resisting law enforcement.
Around 11:42 p.m. on Tuesday, officers with the Marion Police Department were dispatched to a report of shots fired into an apartment in Marion. When officers arrived, the release said they found bullet holes in front of the apartment and three 9mm spent cartridge casings on the ground.
A witness reportedly identified the reported shooter as Davis. After officers found Davis’ address, they went to his home. When officers knocked on the door, the release said that Davis was seen with a handgun as he looked out the front window and refused to come out of the home after officers ordered him to.
The release said that more orders were given to Davis when the Marion Police Emergency Response team arrived on the scene. Davis eventually came out of the home and was taken into custody without incident. Officials said a woman, as well as a child, were also “removed” from the home.
According to the release, officers found a 9mm handgun, as well as marijuana and heroin, after searching the home.
Davis was taken to the Grant County Jail.
