The crash happened shortly after 9 p.m. at the intersection of Woodhill Drive and S. East Street, near Edgewood Avenue.
INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis Metropolitan Police are investigating a fatal crash that happened on Indy’s south side Saturday night.
According to a release from IMPD, shortly after 9 p.m. on March 9, officers responded to the intersection of Woodhill Drive and S. East Street (US 31) on a report of a person down in the roadway.
IMPD Commander Matthew Thomas told media that an initial investigation revealed two vehicles and a pedestrian were involved in the crash.
Medics attempted to treat the pedestrian at the scene, but they were later pronounced dead.
IMPD says traffic will be impacted for several hours until the on-scene investigation is complete.
Motorists and pedestrians are advised to seek an alternate route.
IMPD says all people involved in the crash have stayed on scene and cooporated with the investigation.
