Readout of Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield’s Meeting with Young North Korean Escapees in the Republic of Korea
The below is attributable to U.S. Mission to the United Nations Spokesperson Nate Evans:
Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield, U.S. Representative to the United Nations, met today with North Korean escapees in Seoul. The Ambassador had the opportunity to hear testimonies from these young leaders and learn about their efforts, including in digital advocacy, to support North Koreans living inside and outside of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. For decades the United States has championed efforts to promote and improve respect for the human rights and dignity of North Koreans, including members of the most vulnerable populations, and to promote accountability for the DPRK government concerning its egregious human rights record.
