The actress and singer supported her friend and costar following the release of a new documentary centered around his life
Selena Gomez will always be in Steve Martin‘s corner.
The actress and singer, 31, shared a post on her Instagram Story Friday, in which she supported her Only Murders in the Building costar amid the release of his new film, STEVE! (Martin) A Documentary in 2 Pieces.
“It pains me to know how many people may not know truly about Steve’s life,” Gomez wrote as she shared a snapshot of herself watching the Apple TV+ documentary.
She continued, “He’s truly an icon and tried and never gave up … my dear friend you are extraordinary.”
Martin’s new two-part documentary was released on Friday. It follows the decades-long career of the 78-year-old comedian and actor.
The film is directed and produced by Oscar-winner Morgan Neville and features never-before-seen footage, along with new interviews with Martin and insight into his standup and film career.
Gomez appears alongside Martin and Martin Short in the comedy-drama series Only Murders, which debuted in 2021.
Gomez’s latest post of appreciation for Martin comes after she shared a heartfelt tribute to her Only Murders costars in an Instagram post on Tuesday.
The Disney alum posted a black-and-white photo of the trio lounging together on the set of the show, writing in her caption, “I want to thank @stevemartinreally and Marty (who hates social media) for truly being the most kind, gentle, warm and powerful influences in my life.”
“You have shown me a level of class, intellect and humor that doesn’t seem to be easy to find anymore,” she continued. “You guys are truly best friends to me forever. #thebear.”
