A signal issue at North Station spelled severe delays for commuter rail riders Tuesday morning, according to the MBTA.
The agency said in a post on X that the issue impacted passengers on the Haverhill, Lowell, and Fitchburg lines, as trains were forced to hold before entering or exiting the station.
“Our engineering team is working to resume regular service as soon as possible,” the MBTA wrote at 7:46 a.m.
Commuter rail service alerts for the impacted lines indicated delays ranging from around 15 minutes to 45 minutes. And needless to say, some riders were less than thrilled.
In an update shortly after 9 a.m., the MBTA announced that the issue was resolved and normal train service had resumed with residual delays.
