Time to get your green on.
As TravelPulse.com reports, Eastern Massachusetts has “the championship belt” when it comes to St. Patrick’s Day celebrations — nationally, Boston is ranked first and Worcester seventh.
But honestly, there’s no shortage of events to enjoy throughout the state.
Whether you want to visit the Irish Cultural Centre in Canton, check out a parade, do a bar crawl, or check out some Irish music, it’s all here.
While St. Patrick’s Day falls on a Sunday, there are plenty of events leading up to it.
Here’s a look at 10 things to do:
Visit the Irish Cultural Centre in Canton
The Irish Cultural Centre, which was founded in 1989 to celebrate Irish culture and heritage in Greater Boston, is hosting two days of St. Patrick’s festivities at 200 New Boston Drive in Canton.
From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, come and enjoy live music, Irish dancing and activities. The party continues on St. Patrick’s Day from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Scituate St. Patrick’s Day parade
Data from the 2010 U.S. Census found that Scituate is home to a higher concentration of people who trace their heritage to Ireland than anyplace else in the United States.
It’s telling, then, that the town will host the South Shore’s largest St. Patrick’s Day parade from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, March 17. Pipe and drum bands, floats and other musical acts, will make their way from the old Gates Middle School to the Scituate Harbor Community Center.
Attendees can park at Scituate High School, which will run shuttle buses to the parade’s starting area, and at Widows Walk Golf Course, where shuttle buses can pick up and drop parade goers off at the corner of First Parish Road and Front Street. Shuttles begin at 11 a.m.
Abington St. Patrick’s Day parade
This parade is typically the second-largest among South Shore communities, after Scituate’s. It will take place at 1 p.m. on March 17, stepping off from St. Patrick’s Square in Abington. The parade features floats, marching bands and various town organizations.
South Boston St. Patrick’s Day parade
The South Boston St. Patrick’s Day parade also takes place at 1 p.m. on Sunday, March 17. According to the Meet Boston website, the parade starts at the Broadway MBTA Station, heads up West Broadway to East Broadway, before heading back via East 4th Street and ending at Andrew Square.
The website also notes, “If you are looking to take in the parade from one of the many restaurants along the route or are looking to take in the parade with the masses, Broadway, especially between Broadway Station and L Street, is a great place to be. If you are looking to avoid the crowds, great options include taking in the parade from Medal of Honor Park or Thomas Park, as well as a street on the route other than Broadway.”
