INDIANAPOLIS – A violent weekend in Indianapolis leaves four people dead.
The coroner has now released the names of some of those victims.
Three of the killings remain unsolved but police did make a quick arrest in one of the cases.
Just before 8 p.m. Friday, officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were called to a south side apartment complex on Stephanie Lane and found 62-year-old Timothy Adkins dead from multiple stab wounds.
According to the affidavit, officers found 40-year-old Damon Wallace Junior lying on top of the victim’s lifeless body covered in blood.
One witness told police on scene she saw the suspect punching and kicking the victim before the stabbing. She also told police she caught the killing on video.
Around 90 minutes later, on the near northeast side, a 28-year-old named Robert Woods was shot numerous times on Ralston Avenue and died after being taken to the hospital.
That was followed early Saturday morning by another shooting in a neighborhood near 42nd Street. and German Church Road, where 50-year-old Shanica Mills was shot to death inside her own home.
Several bullets shattered the front windows after police say someone fired shots from outside into the home.
On Saturday night, police found a man dead from unspecified injuries in the parking lot of a gas station on the northwest side at 38th Street and High School Road.
Police didn’t have any information on suspects responsible for the last three homicides.
“I don’t know anything else about what or how or why,” said IMPD Captain Mark McCardia.
That’s why for their part IMPD is still asking for the public’s help with the three unsolved killings.
“The reality is it’s super important. We don’t have much to go on. We all have to watch out for each other. We all need to help each other,” said McCardia.
As for Wallace’s arrest, after being taken into custody, the accused killer requested an attorney and did not provide a motive for the fatal stabbing.
Wallace is being held without bond pending the filing of formal charges.
