Primary day in West Virginia is on May 14, but early voting begins May 1. Here’s what you should know going in.
WEST VIRGINIA, USA — Tuesday, May 14 is primary day in the Mountain State.
There will be the list of names for president of the United States on the ballot; but voters will also get to decide who moves on to the November general election for U.S. Senate, two U.S. House seats, and a slew of statewide races including governor, attorney general and auditor.
Plus, there will be local and non-partisan offices on ballots.

The voter registration deadline for the West Virginia 2024 Primary was April 23,

EARLY VOTING INFORMATION
Early voting starts on May 1 and runs through May 11. To find your early voting location and times of operation, click here.
MAIL-IN ABSENTEE VOTING INFORMATION
West Virginia has a list of eligibility requirements to vote absentee. Click here for more information.
If you plan to vote absentee, you need to request a ballot by May 8.
Returned ballots must be postmarked by May 14, or hand-delivered to your local clerk’s office by May 13.
According to the Secretary of State’s website, if this is your first time voting by mail, you must also send a copy of one form of valid ID with your ballot. The ID must show your current name and address. According to Secretary of State’s website, valid forms of ID include: valid photo identification, a utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck or any other official government document.
